Assessment & Examinations
No examinations are held for students
up to Class 8. Students
are assessed on the basis of regular tests and assignments, Learning
Modules and projects throughout the academic year.
No report cards are given out
for students of Playgroup to Class 4. The progress of these students
is monitored on a regular basis. At the end of the academic year these
students are given their portfolios, reflecting the work they have
done throughout the year and the progress made in different disciplines.
Children who have difficulty in one or more subjects are provided
remedial assistance and parents are informed accordingly. Students
of Class 5 to Class 11 receive report cards once at the end of the
first term and then at the end of the academic year (second term).
Examinations are held for students of Class 9, 10 & 11 only. Students sit for their O Level examinations for Religious Studies in the October/November session and Pakistan Studies, Urdu and Islamiyat at the end of Class 10 in the May/June session and for the rest of their O Level subjects at the end of Class 11.
Remedial
Classes
Remedial classes are held in school
in order to provide additional
reinforcement to students who may be weak in certain subjects.
C.A.S. has a carefully designed programme for students with
learning disabilities.
Taking tuitions is strictly prohibited
for students of The C.A.S. School. At the beginning of each academic
term, a memo is sent to all parents reminding them of this policy
and receiving an undertaking from them that their child is not taking
tuitions. In situations where parents think it may be necessary for
their child to take tuitions, they need to meet with the Principal
and obtain written permission for doing so.
Student
Counseling
One of our major achievements over the years has been to establish the Learning Skills Department, a professionally-managed counselling programme headed by Ms Aysha Jamall, and supported by her faculty of 23 staff and resource teachers. Learning Skills has been successfully addressing issues ranging from severe autism to dyslexia, to other mild forms of learning disabilities and to student and parental counselling.
Special Needs Programme
A school counselor and a Special
Needs facilitator help, in complete confidentiality, students with
emotional and learning difficulties. Where a student needs a more
professional support, he/she is referred to Therapy Works.
